Book our Lukomir tour and visit the village that is one of the main Bosnia and Herzegovina tourism attractions. Lukomir village is located 42 km from Sarajevo, and it represents the highest settled village in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The stone-made homes, wooden roofs, residents still wearing traditional clothes are main characteristics of local life from April until December when the village is approachable.
Since Lukomir is settled at the height of 1.495 m on the top of Bjelasnica mountain, the village has stayed out of modern pollution. Because of its isolation, Lukomir represents a place with traditional nomadic lifestyle. Women living in Lukomir still wear traditional handmade clothes that resemble the woven clothes dating back several centuries. Villagers make colorful gloves, socks and similar accessories from natural wool. They live by selling the authentic items they make, raising livestock and doing mountain agriculture.
Domestic food such as pie, domestic donuts, traditional Bosnian coffee and admirable sightseeing are definitely kind of experience you do not want to miss! Let’s make one more experience together.
From Lukomir, you can do hiking along the ridge of the Rakitnica canyon, which drops 800m below to Rakitnica river. Visit to nearby village Umoljani is also possible.
